Dear Peter,

Please excuse this delay in getting back to you, but we only unpacked the shipment yesterday.

In a word, we are thrilled with the lamp and amazed at your craftsmanship.

Thank you so much for your excellent product.  The only problem is that we are concerned that people will think it an original and wonder why we would spend so much money on a lamp for a modest country farmhouse!

With thanks and best wishes,

Alvin and Janine.

Hi Peter,

The lamp cleared customs & was delivered about an hour ago. With that kind of packing it is no wonder it arrived in PERFECT condition. It looks PERFECT as well. Not only is the shade beautiful but it is as solid as a rock! Your

workmanship is the BEST. I have to get to the store to get some light bulbs before I can really appreciate the beauty of it. After it gets dark here I will take a picture for you. I want to thank you for the wonderful job you did to bring

this lamp back into my life after 20 some odd years of not being able to enjoy it. By the way, do you have a recommendation as to the best size bulbs with regards to the wattage. I think they are available in 40 or 60 watt sizes.

Thank you again Peter. I will surely recommend your work to my friends.  You are wo people who are exceptional artists as well as wonderful people to do business with.

All the best,

Harris

The lamp arrived safely today and I was there to open it at lunch time just
before a board meeting.  Everyone was very impressed with the quality and
overall look.  No one could tell the difference between the old and new (we
had the photos of the original just near by).

We look forward to getting the other lamps.

Expect the wire transfer in the next few days.

If possible, we would like to have the last lamp received by November 30th
for a party on Dec 2.  Is this possible?

Thank you again.

Peter, He (or She) has arrived, and, as criticasl and picky as I am, there
is nothing about He/She that does not inpire delight. I only  wish I had
before me the U.S. "competitor", whose web-site takes such egregious swipes
at yours...I am impressed above all by the exquititely complex foldings of
the glass and metal, so curiously influenced (I know understand) by the
shapes of Japanese fans and  Origami.--remember how close S. Bing and L.C.T.
were.

At any rate, no more to say---as there never is, when something is just as
it should be. Your packing is by far the most painstaking and responsible of
any I've ever encountered; a testimernt to your  love for these "babies" of
yours.

I'll be in touch at some near point, in August, once I get into the house in
question, regarding other projects.I have prices for most shades, but do let
me know about the window, when you can

Thanks, and my thanks and best to your wife, as well.

Peter,

I finished uncrating and set up the lamps. To say that I was amazed and delighted would be an understatement.
Those lamps are actually the most beautiful of my collection and are as beautiful as any of my originals.
The two of you are true artists!!!!!

Please feel free to use any of this in your reference library. I definitely will find time this summer to come visit.
I am as interested in the artists as I am the lamps.

Thank you so much!

Dear Peter & Gudrun
We would like to thank you both for the seven beautiful lamps you have created for us over the past two years.
Starting with the Wisteria and Geranium table lamps, the Geometric, Lotus Leaf and Butterflies hanging shades and
the Hanging-Head Dragonflies and Spreading Daffodil table lamps, you have gone from strength to strength.
Although you try to remain as faithful as possible to the original Tiffany designs, your inspired use of colours and
composition show a rare innovative artistic talent. The combination of top quality glass and materials combined
with your craftsmanship and an obvious love for what you are creating, results in a first class product following
the traditions of the great Louis Comfort Tiffany.
We strongly recommend anyone who wishes to own a fine reproduction Tiffany Lamp, to have it made in Essen.
They will definitely not be disappointed!
Steve & Inge

Dear Peter and Gudrun,

the lamp has been installed, with the smoke cap, and looks absolutely brilliant! The ultimate pleasure is still withheld as daylight saving time puts night time and darkness hours away.
It already looks like something from the Arabian Nights, and plays wonderfully against the glass of the green house. Thank you both so much for bringing such artistry to to the craft you practice so superbly.
I don't have a digital camera but, I'll have a friend take a few pictures next week, and send them to you.

I wish you had been with us when my mother opened the box containing the restored lampshade. She wept with joy, and kept saying, "I didn't think it was possible" over and over again. You truly did a remarkable job and my brother Gary and I are forever grateful. This has been such a pleasure from our first contact until now. The whole birthday celebration was a great success. We had sixty five guests from all over the country who came to San Francisco to honor her. Now that the celebration is over, we have your beautifully restored lamp as a permanent joyful reminder of the great occasion, Both for us, and for generations to come.

With Warmest Thanks, and Gratitude,

Dear Peter & Gudrun,
The"baby" has arrived safe and sound .  I'm sitting in my easy chair, admiring the magnificent craftmanship  and colors in the shade. It is truly a sensational piece of art and exceptional
workmanship. It is a welcome addition to my  glass collection, and it already looks very comfortable
here in New York City. It is the KING of the collection, and my other pieces will act as royal subjects.
I can not wait until nightfall, when I will illuminate my home exclusively, with the light from your lamp  !!!!!!! I bet it will be even more beautiful at night time !!!!!
I have a question about the proper way to clean the lamp shade. Should it be wiped with a dry towel ? Please give me specific maintenance instructions, so I can keep the shade in the best possible condition.
Truly Spectacular !!!!! I still can't believe that one of your lamps now lives in my home.
I  hope this process has been as enjoyable for you as it has been for me.
I look forward to seeing  you later in the year so we can take some pictures together.  Do you know when you will be in New York ?
I hope this communication finds you in good health and great spirits.
Thank you again for the best Birthday present I have ever gotten in  my entire life.

Dear Peter & Gudrun,

Just like a new baby, the lamp gets more beautiful each day. I have kept friends, family and business associates up to date with the great photos you sent.
But you should see the reactions on their faces when they see the lamp in person. They are awe struck, almost speechless.  After seeing the lamp in  person, they can now understand the enthusiasm and optimism that I had throughout the entire process.
Thank you for the cleaning instructions. Intuitively, I didn't think anything but a dry cloth would be appropriate for cleaning.
When you firm up your plans to come to New York, please let me know.  I don't usually do any travelling during December, so I  will look forward to seeing you then.
I will be monitoring your web site to see what you are working on.  If I have any additional lamp plans, you will be the first to find out about it.
Thanks again for everything.   Regards to all.

      A Very, Very, Happy Customer,

Peter and Gudrun,

The lamps are here and are even better than I anticipated. The beauty and
workmanship is truely outstanding! The packing protected the lamps
fully--not any damage whatsoever (now what am I going to do with the boxes
- actually my daughter has plans to use them in a school play). I was
suprised by how heavy they are--extremely well built. Any the colors are
perfect! The Peony lamps lighten up our bedroom in a very elegant and
refined way. The colors are rich and match perfectly. The library lamp is
also perfect! Once I am able to move it, I found a perfect place for it.
The gradual shift in colors and the translucent look around the apron work
great.  I find myself just sitting in the room staring at it!

Your lamps are works of art. Mr. Tiffany would be very proud!

Thank you again for all your help and personal attention to the project.
Please feel free to use me as a reference. You and your wife are to be
congratulated for keeping the old art and craftsmanship alive!!

Dear Dr. Grotepass

I received the parasol shade today 8 April 04 and I am very pleased and
impressed.  In today's throwaway society, seldom have I purchased a newly
made item that I will keep or will last any great length of time, however I
plan to enjoy and treasure this shade for the rest of  my life.  The shade
has that "old world" craftmanship that one rarely sees today.  I found your
company through the asgla calender and the internet.  You will be hearing
from me again for future purchases.

Sincerely,

Peter;

The lamp shade and base are all uncrated, assembled, and situated in a place of honor in my home!!  Your crating system works very well, as nothing was damaged or marked in any way.

Your work is truly remarkable - I can't imagine that the original designer could possibly improve on it in any way.  Please see the attached photo.  I'm very surprised with how heavy the whole assembly is - much more than I expected.

My wife and I are extremely pleased with your work and are so glad that we decided to invest in the project with you.  The colorations of the shade are very impressive and a delight to behold.  We almost couldn't turn the light off last night as it was so pleasing to look at.  The repair of the lamp's stem is excellent and exactly what I was looking for.  Spending any extra time or money to try to  improve the appearance would have been wasted.  I consider the slight visual evidence of the repair to be a sign of distinction, like a few wrinkles on a wise person's face.

Peter, we certainly appreciate all the efforts of you and your colleagues on our behalf and look forward to the many coming years of enjoying the evidence of your special craft.

Best wishes for the future;
Mead and Marilyn XXXX

DEAR PETER,

It's Dazzling, ...Fascinating, ...and Exquisite!!!  I am more than pleased; ...it's Awesome.  We unveiled it this evening without a problem, and it is in perfect condition.  You sure did had it packed well!  Perfect.  The glass amazes me, and I love how you can turn the shade and view it all the way around.  It is ART.  You should be so very proud.  The craftsmanship and the glass are so rare and beautiful you could look at it for days.  Thank you.  You have to tell me again how you found the glass, and how old it is.  Every detail down to the cord and plug are incredible.  XXXX was extremely impressed as well.

Sure, ...go ahead and show me the mold for the "heavens project".  And while you're at it, go ahead and make a small prototype.  I don't see how broken pieces will twinkle like stars.  :)  But you're the boss.  May be ready for the real thing by next Valentines'.

Happy Valentines Day!

Arrived back safely at 15.40, not too much traffic about, except on the A3 where spray was quite a problem. To say that Inge is happy with both lamps is a definite understatement. If she were a dog her tail would still be wagging. We tried the Wisteria with 40 watt bulbs but decided it works better with 25 watt. We think the effect is better with less bright light.
I will keep your cloth bags until we meet again.
Thank you both for the excellent craftsmanship and also for the most enjoyable lunch, pity I could only enjoy one beer.
We wish you and the family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!

Dear Peter,
the lamp base arrived at our house about 45 minutes ago.  The lamp base is
fabulous!  We really like it, the workmanship is truly outstanding.  It
arrived here without a nick or any damage whatsoever, thanks to the
wonderful way it was packed.  My husband wants me to be sure that I mention
that he has never seen anything packed for shipment as well as this lamp
stand.  We are also very happy that you suggested getting the sockets for
the light bulbs.  They look so beautiful.  It would have been a shame not
to get them, they add so much to the total look of the lamp stand.
Jim also likes the soldering iron, I know it will work out for him when he
starts modifying our shade to fit the Odyssey ring.
Also, thank you so very much for the transformer, it arrived a few days ago
from Los Angeles.  We like the pigtail top, it goes very well with the
shade.  As soon as we have everything set the way we want, we have our son
take a picture with his digital camera and then I will send it to you.
We were wondering what we need the copper wire for?
The lamp stand is so beautiful and very well made.  Everything is perfect
and exceeds our expectations!
It has been truly a pleasure doing business with you, especially over a
long distance.
The next time we visit Germany, we will be sure to look you up and visit
your place of business.
With warm regards,
Christel

Dear Peter,

I just wanted you to know that I picked up my poppy lamp shade on Saturday from FedEx and that it was in perfect condition.  The wooden box and packing material were intact and not one hint of damage.

I am thrilled with the lamp.  It is absolutely beautiful.  I am very impressed with the the quality of your craftsmanship.  It is just as you described.  And the quality of the glass--the richness of the variegated colors, the textures, the air bubbles within the blue glass--it's a joy to look at and to touch.  The veins of the leaves around the edges are also so beautiful.  The subtle verdigris  of the metal is tastefully done.  I've not seen such glass on any of the lamps in stores here in New York.  Actually, I should qualify that.  I have not seen NEW lamps such as yours here in NY, but I have seen antique ones at the Metropoitan Museum and select antique stores.  Beautiful lighting makes all the difference in the world in setting one's mood.  And your lamp casts a beautiful glow.  It's a pleasure to come home to.

Thank you,

Frances

Dear Peter

The lamp arrived yesterday. I must admit that I was slightly nervous, not
having had the opportunity to see it before buying. However, it exceeded my
expectations by a long way. It is very impressive, very beautifully and
carefully made, and with good quality materials. It was a present for my
wife for our 8th wedding anniversary, which is symbolised by bronze (which
is why I was keen to know what the lamp base was made of!). She has always
liked Tiffany lamps and is very happy indeed with the present.

I will definitely keep you in mind for some of the other lamps I had my eye
on!

Thanks again.

Kind regards
Tad

Hi friends,
I hope you are well.
I came back this morning to my work and discovered the Poppy on your
web-site. What a colourful lamp and how wonderful it seems !...
The flowers are fantastic (the mixing between the pink/red and orange is
fabulous) and I am very impatient to have it in front of my eyes.
We have an appointment on Sunday 20th.
We plan to go to Brussels on Saturday, then the next day to Essen.
We would like to meet you not too late in the afternoon because we have a
long way back and we have to work the next morning...
Cool the glasses, we'll bring the Champagne...
I'll give you also the French plugs I bought for you.

We can't wait to have the pleasure to meet you again.
Have a nice day.
Philippe.

Dear Peter:
I thought you would enjoy this photograph of your spider lamp. One of my cats --rosie--(1 of 2) has decided this lamp is an ideal area for sleep and an excellent source of heat. She is 22 years old, I got her in 1980 and at the rate she is going will outlive me.
Speak to you soon regarding future work
Is the 10" Azalea pictured on your site still available, if so what is the price.
Thanks,

Dear Peter and Gudrun,

The other parts of the lamp came today and my neighbor was kind enough to
sign for it. The U.S. Customs had to get their share so the government
carged me &35.00 to get it but that wasn't so bad; they get most of our
money anyway. And my neighbor paid the postman and I paid her.

It took me and Catherine about an hour to unpack and clean up. Gudrun, you
really know how to pack a lamp and shade; everything was perfect.

I have the lamp togather now and it is everything and more than I expected.
You two have done a beautiful piece of art. Thank you so much. L.C. Tiffany
couldn't have done any better.

I had a physician once that I was doing an anterior bridge for and when he
saw the finished work he said the next dentist he went to, he was going to
ask him if he was an artist also.

All of our children and grandchildren are gone now and we are both pretty
well "worn out" tired. Just like any grandmother, Catherine always hates to
see them leave but it takes us both about 3 days to recoperate.

If you have any  comments to make just send me an email. After I get the
wiring changed I'll take a picture of the two lamps and send them to you.
You have a great time in Florida.

Thank you again. Your friend, Bob MXXXXXXXXXX

Dear Peter and Gudrun,
Thank you for your hospitality.
Your lamp has the best place in our sitting-room and I'll send you photos
as soon as I have.
Ghislaine was extremely pleased about it and gives you all her
congratulations. Her favorite face is the late summer time because of its
fantastic colours, but she acknowledges that the other face is also
interesting...
You have definitively won our satisfaction and I can tell other customers
how nice your work is.
The next time I'll go to the shop, I'll buy for you some French plug and
send it to you.
Best greetings.
Philippe & Ghislaine.

I got home at midnight and it was too late to use the electric drill.  But
we did open the box with the shade this morning at 8am (the neighbors must
hate us - but we figured they should be up, getting ready for work anyway!)
Of course, we didn't have time to open the box with the stem - so we
couldn't see the shade in all its glory - however, even just holding it up
to the light, it is amazing.  All your hard work .... all the love and
attention.  We love it.  Thank you so much.  I promise to write when we get
to assemble the lamp this weekend.

I hope we can continue corresponding in the future - I would like to hear
about your trip to Orlando and England!

Date: Baghdad, March 11 th, 2002 Dear Dr. Grotepass,

I most certainly hope that you are not wasting your time with pulling of, or drilling around in, unappetizing teeth in ill-maintained mouths, in a fruitless attempt to stop or delay processes that will sooner or later lead to, and suffer, the inevitable destiny of being burned or buried!

How much more rewarding is it to create timeless pieces of beauty that can be enjoyed by generations of enlightened - in the true sense of the word - people, even people who's time of ownership of naturally grown teeth has long been forgotten and who are now enjoying the piece of mind and freedom of fear for the consequences of paradentosis and retarding gums that only "thirds" can grant?

Should, therefore, your motto not be "solder I must, drilling I may" ? As otherwise we might run into the precarlous and for all parties concerned unhappy situation' that I with my scratching up of scarce dollars might beat you to the finish which for you is the completion of the lamp!

So, how are we getting along? Interested to hear progress report. Will stay three more days in this birthplace of civilization but can always be reached by email here or in Germany, not in US office next few weeks.

With kindest regard,

Holger E. xxxxxxxxx

Peter-  Just a quick note to see how you are doing.

I spoke with that prospective customer a couple weeks
ago by phone.  I believe he was going to order a lamp
from you.  Did he?  You should know that US citizens
pay a customs duty.  For us it was $180 payable to the
UPS deliverer by check.  It probably is a percentage
of the value of the shipped item.

I hope you enjoyed your vacation in the states.
Florida is a place I hope to visit one day.  It is
filled with retired people from New York and New
Jersey, so I should feel at home there.

We continue to enjoy our fruit lamp.  We get the
nicest compliments from people who see it for the
first time.  Additionally, my daughter has taken great
interest in it.  I know it will stay in my family for
a long time!   Thanks again for the work of art you
created.

Best regards,

Dear Dr. Grotepass

Fran and I unpacked the lamp the other evening and it was even more beautiful than we expected.  Frankly it was the most beautiful lamp we have ever seen!  It was a pleasure doing business with you (and we were even really impressed with the shipping container you made).

By any chance do you have or can you make a hanging lamp similiar in size and shape of the grapevine lamp where the focused color is a cherry red?  If so, we would be interested in buying one. Please let us know.

Thanks again.  You are a creative genus.
